CTV consolidation and the ad tech tuck-in

The Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger cleared its biggest hurdle when California and 11 other states settled their antitrust suit, clearing the path to a "WarnerMount" combined streamer, while ad tech consolidated beneath it with Infillion buying Foursquare and Taboola moving on Dianomi.

The crux

Consolidation is compressing both the streaming supply and the ad tech that connects to it, so fewer, bigger sellers are negotiating against fewer, bigger buyers and publishers get squeezed in between.

Sell-side read

The WarnerMount combination matters for publishers because a larger, fuller-funnel streamer can demand more of a linear-plus-streaming budget, and the tuck-in deals signal ad tech is pairing down to scale rather than building new pipes.

Watch

The residual legal challenge to the Paramount deal, described as less formidable than the states' suit, and whether more mid-tier ad tech follows the tuck-in pattern before year end.
