YouTube is now the most-cited platform in LLMs

Meltwater data shows YouTube was the most-cited platform across eight AI products in August, overtaking Reddit, with Tinuiti finding YouTube's share of citations in Google's AI Mode more than quadrupled from January to April 2026. Long-form videos of 10 to 20 minutes, with chapter markers and timestamps, dominate, and Lauren Lyster of Go Fish Digital says that is because YouTube content is the easiest for AI systems to transcribe, surface and rank.
