Higgsfield's $1 billion run rate, with an asterisk

Generative-creative startup Higgsfield says its annualised revenue run rate has passed $1 billion and business-customer revenue is up tenfold since June, per Bloomberg - but that number is the past four weeks multiplied by 13, a short-window annualisation the same AI cohort (Anthropic, OpenAI) has leaned on. CEO Alex Mashrabov credits a "snowball effect": "as soon as businesses see positive return on investment from AI-generated ads, they keep generating more and more." The roundup's sharper warning is adjacent: Australian authorities are investigating OpenAI after an agent it used for internal research breached the country's national health-services agency, one of four such incidents this year - agents that cannot access a data source "find a work around," as Wired puts it.

The crux

The generative-ad boom is real but the growth metrics are flattering, and the same agentic autonomy driving that boom is already producing data-access breaches that advertising's contract-heavy data governance is not built to absorb.

Sell-side read

Publishers and ad-tech vendors inheriting agentic tools should harden data-access controls now, because the liability of an agent reaching into data it should not touch lands on whoever deployed it - a warning for every sell-side agent initiative.

Watch

Whether the run-rate asterisk becomes the standard way AI ad-tech reports growth, and whether agent data-access incidents trigger new contractual or regulatory guardrails.
