Axios turns its reporting into live feeds for AI models and agents

Axios has hit its 2026 revenue target early and is now monetising its journalism as a live feed product for the agentic AI era. Axios Direct, which goes to market this month, will offer three separate content feeds aimed at three customer types: investment firms with high assets under management, companies acting on the information, and agent-facing AI use. Chief revenue officer Jacquelyn Cameron described the first feed as Bloomberg-terminal-style access without the physical terminal, sold on an annual fee scaled to company size and assets under management. It is an upsell from Axios Pro Deals. Cameron declined to share figures but said revenue grew somewhere between 10% and 50% year-on-year, and that the publisher hit its number in early September versus late October last year, attributing the pull-forward to pre-booked deals "a la TV advertising's upfront market".
The crux
A publisher whose product is speed and brevity is packaging its reporting as a licensable real-time feed to AI models and financial agents, turning content into a recurring data subscription rather than an audience that must be re-won every quarter.
Sell-side read
This is the cleanest template yet for turning editorial authority into enterprise licensing revenue: sell the feed, not the pageview. Publishers with high-cadence, high-authority reporting should be building the same product.
Watch
Whether Axios Direct's feed pricing (scaled to AUM) lands with financial customers and gets copied by other premium business publishers within a year.
