Newsquest Grows Profit As Digital Subs Hit 159,000

The UK regional publisher reached 159,000 paying digital subscribers, up 18% year on year, while revenue fell 4.5% to £192 million and EBITDA rose 1.4% to £43.4 million. CEO Henry Faure Walker joined Reach in calling out the BBC, urging Government and Ofcom to "restrain the BBC's unnecessary encroachment into local online news" using licence-fee subsidy.
