IAB Tech Lab chief executive Anthony Katsur has thrown down a gauntlet, arguing in a LinkedIn piece that Apple's move to block ad-tech and identity infrastructure goes beyond legal privacy requirements and will damage publisher revenue: "A policy intended to benefit consumers can inadvertently damage media companies' ability to generate revenue. Those same consumers depend on publishers for reporting, information, and entertainment." He is promoting the Tech Lab's Trusted Server initiative, which shifts more ad functions into publisher-controlled infrastructure. Seen in: Tipsheet (John Ebbert). Tipsheet's own caveat: is Trusted Server a durable fix or "another workaround in the industry's endless identity arms race"?
