Video-first EV publisher Electrifying turns a niche into profit on LLM surfacing

Specialist electric-vehicle publisher Electrifying has hit first profit roughly six years after launch, with revenue more than doubling year on year, on the back of a video-first strategy that founder and CEO Ginny Buckley built specifically for the AI-search era. The title reaches around 400,000 monthly uniques, a 40,000-subscriber weekly newsletter, a podcast with roughly 25,000 listeners per episode, and a YouTube channel with 250,000 subscribers and about five million monthly views that Buckley calls "the most watched EV review channel globally." The structural insight is in the search split: 56% of traffic is organic search and 37% direct, and Buckley says the video plus a deliberately conversational tone is what surfaces the brand in AI Overviews: "We're actually finding that we return very highly in AI search for a lot of brands now... after their own.com brand, we were the second most returned site out there for the LLMs." The title also transcribes its videos back into the site so the bots have more text to read. On the commercial side, Buckley said the turning point was a big campaign from Skoda two years ago, and that lead-gen, YouTube ad share, sponsored content and display are all growing year on year. Net assets were about £296,000 for the ten months to December 2025, up 457%.

The crux

A small, specialist publisher is using video and LLM-friendly content as a discovery moat, proving that AI search can be a tailwind rather than a threat for a niche that owns its subject and its audience.

Sell-side read

Electrifying is a working template for the specialist end of the market: own the niche, publish in the format the platforms reward, transcribe everything for the bots, and convert that visibility into commercial partnerships rather than ad-served pageviews.

Watch

Whether the two-to-three videos a day cadence and the LLM-surfacing lead hold as more automotive publishers copy the playbook, and whether agency budgets, which Buckley says were the slow part, now follow the audience.
