Agentic buying moves from pilot to plumbing

AdExchanger documented InterMedia, an independent CTV agency, using MCP and API integrations with Vibe.co and Olyzon to run campaigns from Claude's dashboard. Vibe co-founder Arthur Querou said more than 1,000 brands have adopted its MCP integration and MCP-enabled buying now accounts for a large portion of ad spend on the platform. Olyzon's Jules Minvielle argued APIs beat MCP for reporting because they return deterministic results, saying "an agent talking to an agent is not the same as having our agents writing what's needed directly in the API". His forecast: "in 18 months, every single media buyer in the world will be equipped with a platform like ours". AdExchanger's Evgeny Popov named the unresolved risk, the "proof gap": a $200,000 budget moving $1,000 an hour into a new mix where the first usable sales readout takes 48 hours, during which $48,000 is committed unassessed. Digiday reported Dentsu, WPP Media and Stagwell all describing human approval thresholds over their agent stacks.
The crux
Agents are already moving real media budgets, but nobody has settled who carries the financial loss when the outcome the agent bought for does not arrive.
Sell-side read
Publishers that expose their inventory to agent-readable interfaces and deterministic reporting win the automated spend, while those that require a human to translate every request get routed around.
Watch
Whether any media deal ties agent spend to a funded remedy, and whether agency approval thresholds loosen or tighten as agents scale.
