OpenX wires HUMAN's trust signals into supply curation

Ad fraud company HUMAN Security is extending its Ad Integrity Suite to programmatic platforms, combining invalid-traffic, viewability and brand-safety signals into one feed, and OpenX is the first platform to adopt it, integrating the signals into supply curation and deal creation. "Trust is the actual currency of programmatic advertising, not scale," said Chris Hallenbeck, OpenX's VP of marketplace quality. HUMAN says further capabilities will roll out in the first half of 2027. Tipsheet's own read is that this and PMG's deployment of its Bedrock DSP inside Index Cloud point to the same shift from two directions: quality signals are now changing which supply gets selected and packaged into deals, while buyer-side bidding logic is moving into the exchange itself. Both moves put more decisioning inside the supply path rather than at the ends of it, and trust signals matter more as AI automates the buying decision. Tipsheet carries its own caveat on the direction, from Brainlabs chief executive Daniel Gilbert, who called agent-to-agent buying "a pointless/underwhelming application of AI... I am willing to be proven wrong but the idea that you get your buying agent to negotiate with an agent representing the media owner... like what is the point?!" The source's own evidence for the yield case is thin: the clearest number it offers is Index Exchange's published account of a global hotel brand cutting cost per booking 41% with dentsu and Chalice AI inside Index Cloud, the same trust-in-the-supply-path bet. The same Tipsheet digest carries pubX's $5 million Series A and its acquisition of the governance startup Compliant, the identical bet that trust signals must sit inside the buy decision.

The crux

As agentic buying removes the human from the loop, the quality signals embedded in the supply path become the de facto gatekeeper of what gets bought, which hands whoever controls those signals a quiet form of pricing power.

Sell-side read

Quality signals wired into curation help clean supply paths win more demand, but they are a buyer-side assurance a publisher pays for in audit and integration cost. Evaluate the yield lift on curated deals against the fee for participating, not against your blended CPM.

Watch

whether the HUMAN-OpenX integration lands as a measurable CPM premium on curated inventory before the H1 2027 feature expansion, and whether rival exchanges follow OpenX in bundling third-party quality signals.
